Hot off the press...
LASTING IMPRESSIONS, SCARBOROUGH MUSEUM & ART GALLERY
25 March - 18 June 2017
It's exciting to see my first print to be accepted into a permanent collection being hung at Scarborough Museum and Art Gallery's Lasting Impressions exhibition which opened this weekend.
Scarborough Museum Trust is working with the Printmakers' Council to build a permanent collection of the UK contemporary printmaking and my solar plate print, "Windturbines" was selected as part of this years addition to the collection. It and all the others from the Printmakers' Council submission are on display in Scarborough until June 18.
After nearly 30 years working as a graphic designer and branding consultant, in 2016 I stopped crafting images for other people and started making them for myself. Drawing on a lifetime of taking photographs whilst living in Edinburgh, London and the south of France, I began with solar plate etching. Recently I have expanded my skills to include screen printing.
Having last attended life drawing at art college in Edinburgh in the 1980s, I have also returned to that. And I love it. For the moment I'm not sure how that will effect my printmaking. But in the future, I intend to evolve from just purely photograph-based image making to something more gestural. Lithography, monoprinting, photogravure and drypoint are all on my radar, so watch this space!
This website offers you a chance to explore and buy from my growing body of work. You'll find solar plate and screen prints, as well as drawings and digital prints from my photographic and drawing portfolios. I hope you enjoy them.
Lastly, at this early stage in my career, I am delighted to make contact with other printmakers and print-lovers. Please do get in touch by email or through my social media feeds.
